Performing Arts
The Performing Arts program seeks to encourage the broadest possible range of creative options for its students. We have a solid tradition of high-quality education and strive for excellence in every endeavor. We offer a variety of ensembles that study classical repertoire, world music, and jazz and contemporary music. The Drama Department offers a range of classes that study classical theatre, contemporary styles, and technical aspects of production.
HHS Bands
HHS Bands provides an outstanding music education and creates positive learning experiences for Highland's student musicians. We have 4 concert bands & 4 jazz bands that meet year round, a competitive marching band, State Champion Winter guard, & State Champion Winter Concert Percussion Ensemble.
HHS Choir
The Highland High School Choir participates every year in the Arizona Choral Educators Fall Festival, the NAU Jazz/Madrigal Festival, and takes a tour every year with our most recent tour being Hawaii 2024. HHS Choir has participated in festivals for over 30 years and routinely earns superior ratings.
Highland Orchestra
Highland Orchestra consist of five performing ensembles. In 2022, Highland Symphonic Strings became the first orchestra from an Arizona high school to perform in Carnegie Hall in New York, and has appeared four times at the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic.
HHS Theatre
The Highland High School Theatre program consists of students from drama, choir, orchestra, and stagecraft programs are involved and are at the center of theatre productions, on stage, behind the scenes, in the orchestra, and as director. HHS Theatre was the only school in Arizona chosen to perform "Frozen".
