STRIVE Transition Program
Portable 3B

The STRIVE Program (Students Transitioning in Real World Independence and Vocational Exploration) is designed to provide students with special needs with an effective cooperative of daily living and vocational experiences/activities.

Students engage in such activities through intensive labs incorporating direct instruction, assessment, hands-on participation, and real world/community-based instructional opportunities.

The dual focus of the STRIVE Program (daily living and vocational) allows students to develop increased independence in areas critical to post-secondary success, preparing for future of active engagement within their families and community.

About Me

My name is Sophia Donaldson. I have been a special education teacher for the Gilbert district for 8 years, in both the self-contained and resource special education settings. I began my teaching career here at Highland High, and also worked at Campo Verde High School and South Valley Junior High. I was beyond excited to return to the "Hawk Nest" for the 2015-2016 school year!

I was born and raised in the Chicago-area (go Cubs!) but came out to the desert to attend Arizona State University. I earned my teaching degree with a dual emphasis in both Special Education and Elementary Education. My husband is also a special education teacher, so you could say it runs in the family. We have a beautiful daughter, Kinsley, who just turned 2 years old. She is the most precious gift we could ask for! For those of you who are wondering though, the "terrible 2's" is a real thing!

Here's to a great school year! :)
