Highland High School opened in the fall of 1993, and the Highland Orchestras currently consist of five performing ensembles, with an enrollment of over 350 students. In December 2002, the Highland Symphonic Strings became the first orchestra from an Arizona high school to perform in the world-renowned Carnegie Hall in New York City. The Highland Symphonic Strings have also appeared three times at the prestigious Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago, IL: in 1997, 2007 and most recently in December, 2013.

About Me

Mrs. Bennett has been teaching orchestra at Highland High School since 1998.  Along with teaching at HHS, she also is the orchestra director at Highland Junior High School.  Mrs. Bennett is a graduate of Northern Arizona University with degrees in both Music Education and Violin Performance.  She also earned her Masters degree in Music Education from Arizona State University.  In 2009, Mrs. Bennett received the O.M. Hartsell Excellence in Music Teaching Award from the Arizona Band and Orchestra Directors Association (ABODA).  She also received the Arizona Outstanding Public School Teacher of the Year Award from the Arizona String Teachers Association (ASTA) in 2015.
