All of the courses I teach are Literature-based writing improvement classes. Hopefully, students will continue to appreciate excellent writing by American and world-wide authors of all genders, races, and nationalities and...persuasions? My wife has been a teacher and librarian in our district for thirty years, and when I visit her library I always see students begging (yes, begging) for the next book in that series about that pirate mouse (Redwall ) or some other series that are hot properties at the time.  No one begs ME for a book about anything, very few books are "hot properties."  And I'm trying like crazy to change that.

Henderson Bio (so far...)

I have been teaching at Highland High since it opened in 1992.  The only courses in the English Department I haven't taught at one time or another are the Honors and AP sections.  We used to have almost a dozen literature courses the seniors could choose from (World Lit, British Lit, Women's Lit, Holocaust Lit, Sports Lit, Science Fiction, etc.) and I taught them all.

I have a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing from Arizona State University, as well as a Bachelor's in Sociology and Post-Bac certification in English Education (also from ASU).

I have published short stories and poems locally and nationally, and will also have a novel published in the not-too-distant future.
