Fashion/Interior Design Teacher Prep HERO


Here is some information about the classes I teach.

Fashion Design I will introduce students to the technical knowledge and skills associated with design principles, production, selection, marketing principles, display, purchase, sales, promotion, construction, textiles science and business practices. Fashion Design II students will gain further knowledge of the fashion and design industry and apply the skills learned in Fashion Design I through projects focused on the fashion field.

Interior Design I will introduce students to the technical skills and knowledge associated with the interior design Industry and field. Topics will include floor planning, room design, selection of furnishings and accessories along with elements and principals of design.  Interior Design II will allow students to gain further knowledge of the interior design industry and apply skills learned in Interior Design I through projects focused on the interior design field. 

Teacher Preparation allows students to explore teaching and related fields as career options.  It will provide an overview of the many facets of the teaching profession including special education, human growth and development, how the brain learns, cultural diversity, and a history of American education.  Students will also spend 30 hours of class time as an Intern at an elementary or junior high school.  

The HERO program teaches students to apply personal employability skills necessary to succeed in the work place.  Junior Achievement Applied Economics course materials will be used.  One hour of daily classroom activities and a supervised work experience of a minimum of 15 hours per week will offer opportunities for students to earn high school credit while earning wages.  

About Me

I am a native to Arizona, raised in Tempe. I went to Yavapai Community College for two years and played basketball. I then transferred to Arizona State University and obtained a Bachelors degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Family Studies.I began teaching and coaching at Highland High School in 1997. I earned my Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Arizona State University. My husband is also a GPS teacher and we are raising a daughter and a son. We enjoy watching our children play multiple sports and spending time with our extended family.
