Theatre Arts is the study of both sides of the curtain. We study both Acting and Stage Tech in the Beginning Class, Acting in Intermediate, Advanced and Performing. In tech theatre it is all behind the scene work.

About Me

I have been a teacher in the Gilbert Public Schools for over 30 years. I was at Gilbert High School before becoming one of the original teachers at Highland. I first started acting at the age of eight, fifty-some years ago. I am a native of San Diego, CA. I received my BA at Brigham Young University in Journalism Ed. I did my acting training at BYU during that time too. I obtained my Masters Degree from Arizona State University. For the past seven years I have had additional training in Acting and Directing at Southern Utah University with the Utah Shakespeare Festival. I spent the summer of 2009 in London where I received training at the Shakespeare Globe Theatre. Here at Highland, I am the Theatre Club Advisor and the Theatre Team Coach. I have also been the Speech and Debate Coach.  In 1997 I was named the Journalism Teacher of the Year. In 2011 I was named the Arizona Theatre Teacher of the Year. Currently I am a member of the AIA Advisory Board for Speech and Debate and a member of the AIA Theatre Board and Co-Chairman of the Arizona Thespian State Board. I am married to DeeDee and we are the parents of four sons. I also have three granddaughters and one grandson.
